Delta Sigma Pi is a professional Business Fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice. The Gamma Sigma chapter at the University of Maryland at College Park has been in existence since November 18, 1950 and has initiated over 1,600 collegiate brothers as of 2019.
The fraternity contributed to a well-rounded college experience by developing and strengthening soft skills, intangibles and leadership qualities of its brotherhood. More importantly, it has resulted in rewarding career opportunities, life-long friendships and numerous marriages. The social, professional and charitable memories from the fraternity’s activities are fondly etched in the minds of the brotherhood forever.
For these reasons, the brotherhood wishes to express its gratitude through impactful means. In recognition of our appreciation and celebration of our life-long fraternal bonds, Martin Friedman (’91), with the support of other alumni brothers, has endowed a need-based scholarship to enable others to benefit from the enrichment Delta Sigma Pi and University of Maryland, College Park provided us. Our hope is that students who carry a financial burden or are unable to afford certain educational opportunities will now be able to pursue their dreams.
